About the Authors
FRANCESCO POMPEI is President and Founder of Exergen Corporation. He holds BS and MS degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and SM and PhD degrees from Harvard University. Dr. Pompei is also an active scientist in cancer research in the Department of Physics at Harvard University where he holds an appointment as a Research Scholar. Holding more than sixty US patents, Dr. Pompei’s numerous designs have made Exergen Corporation one of the world’s foremost manufacturers of non-invasive thermometry systems for medical and industrial applications. He is the author or co-author of more than 50 published books and articles appearing in a wide range journals, including The New England Journal of Medicine, American Journal for Infection Control, Toxicology and Industrial Health, Human and Ecological Risk Assessment, Nature, Cancer Research, Critical Care Medicine.
MARYBETH POMPEI is Senior Vice President and Chief Clinical Scientist, Exergen Corporation. Her nursing training was at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center (Boston, MA) and Catholic University of America (Washington D.C.), and she continued her undergraduate and graduate education at the University of Queensland (Brisbane, Australia), Harvard University, and The Neiswanger Institute for Bioethics and Health Policy at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, where she earned the Masters Degree in Bioethics and Health Policy. She has been an active clinical scientist in the field of medical thermometry and thermoregulation for twenty years, is a patented inventor in the field with five US patents, conducts regular training and Grand Rounds for physicians on the subject, and is a guest lecturer at a number of universities and medical centers. Ms. Pompei is married to Dr. Pompei.
